You can make things better

ree

As I sit at my desk, this beautiful spring afternoon, and look at the roses blooming outside my window, it reinforces my understanding that things can be made better.

When I first moved into my house, a few years ago, the southwestern side was hot as blazes and almost completely void of life. No one had planted anything in that part of the yard for many, many years and there wasn't any water on that side of the house. I didn't have an extra $50,000 to pay someone else to landscape it for me and I didn't have time to knock it out myself. The size of the job was a bit overwhelming, so much needed to change to "make it better". But my daughter and I wanted it to change and so we just started. We planted 3 trees that first year. These were trees that didn't need a lot of water and would grow pretty fast. As time went on, we planted more roses, put in some water, added some ground cover and now, in the springtime, it is quite beautiful.

This approach to making things better can be applied to your life. Pick something that you can do and do it, even if it seems small. If it makes things better, you will feel better.

That is how things change, step by step.
